Science Week!

This week is National Science Week – so yesterday we had a Science day!

In the morning we investigated sound. We tried to answer this question: Is sound louder through a solid or a gas?

Then in the afternoon, Mr Clucas showed us some really exciting experiments!

He showed us that he could ‘defy gravity’ using a glass bottle, some water and a ping pong ball. We thought Miss Bunce was going to be soaked!

He also talked to us about air resistance – we learnt that it is air resistance that makes parachutes work and keeps the ping pong ball on top of the bottle.

Published Authors?

We are now published authors!

We each wrote a scary adventure story about Alfie and his dad from Demon Dentist, then Miss Bunce combined them together into a book. Then Mrs Jones submitted it to the iTunes Store for us… and it was accepted!

You can download and read our stories here:

You can also leave a review on the iTunes Store!

Cornet Concert!

Yesterday morning we had our cornet concert. We invited parents and carers into school, and Year 3 and the rest of Year 4 came to watch too. We were very nervous!

Mrs Moor kindly filmed the concert for us, so you can watch these videos below!

I think 4B did brilliantly, as it’s not easy trying to learn a musical instrument!

Your homework this week is to find your favourite poem – one that makes you smile, makes you laugh or one that you just enjoy reading!

My favourite poem is called Magic. Do you like it?

Magic Poem

I also really like Michael Rosen’s poems, such as this one:

I Made A Robot

What is your favourite poem? You can either bring this into class or post it as a comment on this post on our blog. Make sure you can read it!

Using Maths in Real Life

4B have been using their mathematical skills this week to independently bake some delicious chocolate muffins!

They had to read the instructions and carefully weigh out the ingredients accurately using the equipment.

Then we looked at other recipes. We had to find out how much of the ingredients we would need if we were using this recipe for more/less people.
